For most people requesting an Identity History Summary directly from the FBI, that's precisely what's needed — a properly rolled set of prints on the correct card, which you then submit yourself.

Check before you come

Fingerprint-based applications are unforgiving about details that have nothing to do with the prints themselves. Before your appointment, confirm with the requesting agency:

• Whether they accept cards you submit yourself, or require an approved Channeler.
• Whether they want a specific ORI number or reason-fingerprinted code on the card.
• How many cards they need, and where they're mailed.
